Advice on filtration for 420l tank

I normally try to get a water turnover of at least 2 or 3 times but I also equally, probably more so, look for a decent canister size.

The media is what does the work not the water flow. And fill it with some good media.

A decent sized Fluval or Eheim if you have the money. If not a cheaper one like those worx filters will do the job. Only thing I didn't like about those though on my quick look at them is they have UV filters on them.

Also curious why you are choosing 2.5 high instead of wide. Alot of that height wont get used with peacocks but a 2.5 wide tank they will be clammering over it. Its a good sized 3 footer though regardless.

I would use 2 x eheim 2217's

they are awesome filters, easy to use, last forever, quiet etc

Buy Hydroton as filter media from a hydroponics shop and fill both filters to the brim (take out sponges etc). It's dirt cheap and works great

Throw a hang on filter on the back of the tank that just has sponge and filter wool as mechanical fuiltration

You could even put a large air driven sponge filter in the tank behind a rock to polish the water

But i guess i always over filter! lol

Thanks Chuckmeister.

I was thinking a FX6 due to the ease of cleaning etc, but it may be an overkill.

I have one on my 6ft and it seems to work ok.

The reason I have gone 2.5ft high is to get more volume, going 2.5ft wide will stick to far out from the wall.
