Ged
Edwin I think you should be congratulated on your outstanding fishroom. Clearly the planning and thought that has gone into producing the finished room was thorough. The photos may inspire others Do you have a floor plan of your room? LithoMan
Yes the floor plan was BIG AL lolI just done a few hand drawings and measurements and luck all worked wellAl cichlids on facebook you can see his set up
Chuckmeister
Nice looking setup, well done.I always found with bottom tanks (on the ground) that even if you can get them a couple of inches off the ground makes a difference. Unless your driveway is on a hill
LithoMan
Thats the only thing i didnt like..them being on the ground but any other way top tanks way too high to work with easily ..
yanke
and now I start mine fish roomlooking at yours it looks like a lot of workhow big is your garageI am going to go with the pallet racking like u didI have one wall that is 5.5m longbut I have 2 garage doors1 front and 1 in the backso in the summer time I can open them bothand I hope to get the wind in therehave to wait on the a/c for the roomthe racking in the middle were did u get that from
LithoMan
I use that big canister filter in middle of room with the long hose to do my water changes ..nice and easy
LithoMan
15 -16 ft long as a guess and 3 m wide
Chuckmeister
i had a similar setup but I used to have the smaller fry (growout) tanks on ground level. I also had a 2 liter jug and every time I went in i just changed every second or 3rd tank with a few jugs of water on a rotation. that way I didn't have to commit to a slow water change on a larger tank.edit...ahh yeah a canister helps too
Buccal
Neat, yes the organization can make the experience so much more welcoming and satisfying, not to mention strengthening the operation for long term.Quick question, a lot of tanks have those large whitish color balls in them, are they some sort of water enhancer ??? LithoMan
Marine pure balls I had them in all my tanks building good bacteria till my sidedrops came in. .

myster619
Those sidedrops look like a pain to clean given you have filter wool on both sides of marinepure. You are right on the money with the americans. I find them to be more sensitive to light than africans. But with time and number game, they should get comfortable. What americans are you planning to breed?Did you secure the racks to the wall?
LithoMan
no they are not secured pallet racking not going any where . in the side drops are filter mats very similar to jap matting but i find them 100 times better they dont loosen up and fall apart so keeping side drops clean should not be a issue...as for americans just for a test runcubansfreddyscryptoheros septemfasciatusthey are all still small
