Any help would be great.

But I think with the tank bred aquarium strains, that are hugely seperate from wilds a pH of 7 if fine. I used to induce spawning with a small pH drop from 7 to about 6.8

Reducing pH is a little more difficult than raising it IMO. Well reducing hardness anyway. Try adding alot of bog-wood to the tank, or "peat-moss" to soften the water. Both will stain/tan the water. Other than that you could check your tap water and add some pH down or equivalent. Provided the water isnt too hard it should stay down once in the tank. However if the water is excessively hard the pH down will only have a very short effect.

I am sure someone will correct any misinformation here, as it is early.

Pair bonding and spawning happen fairly easy its getting pairs that don't eat their eggs that can be the prob so give them a few goes before trying artificial hatching
