Chuckmeister
Just curious if people use fire extinguishers in place of BOC rented bottles on their planted tanks? Can you take these cylinders to say a micro brewery for re-fills?Seems like a much cheaper alternative to BOC. Mattzilla
i used to use one, a mate filled them for me at a fire extinguisher refill place.MUCH cheaper than proper co2 bottles and refills
Chuckmeister
Thanks Matt. I've just decided to buy a 6.8kg bottle from u-brew-it. 380 dollars for the first bottle. Pretty expensive but they will exchange for 60 dollars which I'd consider cheap for a per year cost on co2.
Ged
Chuck you would probably find some LFS will refill an extinquisher for you. For the peace of mind buying a bottle that doesn't require you to tape the trigger open will justify the cost in the long run. Just check the date on the bottle to ensure that you get as close to the seven years before requiring a pressure test.
