Recommended Posts

Hi,
I am close to starting a African Malawi Cichlid tank I was looking at probably an all male tank.
Is there anyone with experience with for and against regarding an all male tank?

The ones I was looking at are(quite a list of about 15 types):
Are they all compatible?

TANGERINE PEACOCK
ALBINO PEACOCK
RED JACOBFREIBERGI FIREBIRD PEACOCK
YELLOW PEACOCK
BLUE PEACOCK
A STUARTGRANTI NGARA FLAMETAIL
CHILOTILAPIA EUCHILUS
ALBINO ZEBRA (M.Zebra)
O.B. BLUEBERRY ZEBRA (M.Zebra)
LABIDOCHROMIS HONGI
LABIDOCHROMIS MBAMBA
PLACIDOCHROMIS PHENOCHILUS TANZANIA
ALBINO MELANOCHROMIS AURATUS
AULONOCARA KORNELIAE
Pseudotropheus Demasoni

Happy to hear advice and peoples experiences.
Thanks

Well you have

pretty boy peacocks ~ TANGERINE PEACOCK, AULONOCARA KORNELIAE, ALBINO PEACOCK, RED JACOBFREIBERGI FIREBIRD PEACOCK, YELLOW PEACOCK, BLUE PEACOCK, A STUARTGRANTI NGARA FLAMETAIL

Big chilled haps ~ CHILOTILAPIA EUCHILUS

really chilled haps ~ PLACIDOCHROMIS PHENOCHILUS TANZANIA

big bruiser mbuna ~ ALBINO ZEBRA (M.Zebra) and O.B. BLUEBERRY ZEBRA (M.Zebra)

small mbuna ~ LABIDOCHROMIS HONGI and LABIDOCHROMIS MBAMBA and Pseudotropheus Demasoni

Absolute psycho mbuna ~ ALBINO MELANOCHROMIS AURATUS

So its quite the mix.

ALL COMES DOWN TO

Tank size. Tank decor. Aggression level. Availability of species.

So......   avoid the big bruisers if its a smaller tank. Get a red empress if you cant find a Euchilus. Skip the Auratus if you dont want carnage. You know, the usuals.
