fishdance
If you have mouthbrooding fry newly spat, you can siphon hose them easily by putting black tape around the hose end. They literally swim straight in. If they are bigger, you will need to remove all the rocks and use 2 nets as even draining half the water will only help. Most fish keepers run bare or sparse tanks if they move fry/juveniles a lot. I use a 12 volt electric shocker on low setting that temporarily imobilises fish. If you have shell dwellers or rock spawning tangs then moving their homes is quite disruptive to breeding. I built a raised sloped glass false bottom at the back of tank which drops into a front area thats easy to catch. When i drain the water, the fish are forced down into the catch zone and no homes need to be disturbed.
