gpap
Hi just wondering if low temp under 18c will kill frontosa. What is best temp Thanks Sent from my SM-G955F using Tapatalk
brucem
I reckon that would push it a bit. I keep mine at 24, but could probably live through 20-21. I'm not sure how the lower temp would affect breeding. Lower temps means lower activity.
Stoney2
I keep my Frontosa tanks around 23 to 24 and they breed quite often. I find once the temp gets to 28 then my Fronnies are totally against breeding. My females are only active in winter. However a mate told me that his fronnies are quite the opposite, he reckons they go into breeding hibernation in winter. That said, I wouldn't take the temp lower than 23 but it appears every fronnie is different [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
chorrylan
Fronties lurk around the 30-40m metre and even deeper depths in the lake so their natural temperature range would be 23.5-25 C. Lower than that would be unnatural (even at 400m depth Tanganyikan water sits at about 23 degrees year around) Warmer would mean lower oxygen and higher bacterial loads than is good for them.
