LPH for canister filter ?

The suggestions you will recieve will vary. The norm seems to be anywhere from 3-8 cycles an hour. Industry seems to state 3-4 times an hour but many people in the hobby aim for 5-8 cycles per hour. So using this as a guide the LPH will range from 495 lph to 1320 lph. IMO I would be more comfortable with the the flow cycle around 7 times. This may not be achieved with just one canister filter. For example the Eheim 2228 Professional Canister has a flow rate of 1050 lph.

It will also depend on a what type of fish you are aim to put or have in the tank.

A couple of weeks ago there was a good thread on filtration.

Hope it helps

Sorry Ged, i know i'm probably not as experienced as you but i think anything above 6 times an hour is far to excessive and in smaller tanks like this one will create too much flow. Just my oppinion, im sure there are loads of differing oppinions but 5 times an hour works for me.

So I guess my point is it all depends on your tank size, fish in the tank, the way the filtered water enter the tank etc etc.

This is the point i was trying to get at smile.gif
