Melanochromus Interuptus/Johani

Ant

Recommended Posts

From pictures that i have collected from the net, it looks as though the interruptus is darker and the bottom stripe on the fish is dark while the top stripe is alot lighter/brighter.

both are known as checkerboard hence the confusion between the species:

Interruptus:

The two pictures here are basically what reflects the differences between the two species within all the pics i have collected. These pics are from www.cichlid-forum.com.

PS: I guess what confuses the issue further are location variations

hmm according to that article the Interruptus females are suposed to look like female Melanochromis auratus......im not questioning the validity of this article as it was written by someone with a million times more knowledge than i but i would say that this 'dwarf auratus' would have to be a differnt variation to the Interruptus we are supposed to have here or does this suggest that the Interruptus isn't even in our country?
