Was in the LFS the other day and spotted some large (200g) tins of Sera Pond "Bio Flakes" for only $9. They contain the following:

grain meal, wheat germ, fish protein, wheat protein, yeast and herbal oils, vitamins and colourants.

crude protein 21.8%

crude fat 2.8%

crude fiber 2.2%

moisture 6.2%

Sera bioflakes contains nutritious ingredients, including wheat germ and vitamins for all pond fish. Because of its low protein, easy to digest composition, sera bioflakes is ideal for feeding during the hot summer months.

My question is, would this flake be suitable as a staple for vegetarian fish like some Central Americans and African mbuna and tropheus? :(:

It looks to me its along the lines of those cheap tetra bits, cant remember the name ;)

Where they use wheat germ as its main ingredients which is just a filler, instead of useing Fish meal etc which has a higher vitamin source ..

Jason

Using goldfish/pond flakes to cut Spirolina flakes for Tropheus and other vegetarian diet based fish is a combo that has been used for a while now and not only works with it's low protien base but also reduces the cost of using straight spirolina flake or Vegie flakes
