  1. I have heard of some species of Moray eel being sold as freshwater (apparently some species live in brackish) they get sold and live for a few months in their fresh tank, only to die 'unexpectedly' after that, if it is a Moray species, they will not tolerate fresh indeffinately, regardless of what the LFS says. Just a query?
  2. As long as the eel is a fair size (at least as long as the oscar) he should be O.K, i'd be worried about the oscar, if he's only little as eels will eat anything they can fit in their head, and it's a pretty elastic head they've got. If you aren't too attacvhed ot the oscar, i'd give it a go, as i don't know of anyone who has kept a native eel with cichlids. If ya try could you let us know as i am very fond of eels myself
  3. But there's no way 1 fingerling is of use to anyone in the country. No one will charge ya much if they know you're buying a 1000!
  4. M. opercularis is the paradise fish, it's just different colour morphs, eg: Apricot. I've bred my paradise fish a few times, alot like breeding Betta but more eggs. Mine are about 60-70mm SL, and the female can really pump out the eggs!!! Being a coldwater fish, they breed at relatively low temps, 25-27 deg should be more than enough to get the male building his bubble nest. Make sure you isolate the male and then add females one at a time to see if he likes them i use a divider because they can be a little, over eager. I absolutley love this fish. The male is by far one of the most attractive coldwater fish on Earth. When he starts flaring and carrying on for the female the colours are awesome! GOOD LUCK!
