  1. It happens. People come and go. Then someone posts a thread like this. Then it goes back to 'normal'. It's pretty usual for forums to have lulls.
  2. Pop quiz! Who has ever said "I'll just set this tank up but not get any more fish" and then not got more fish?
  3. I tried tanks in my garage for a bit - I found it easier to have fry growing up outside (summer only) than stuffing around in there. Not just the gaps - but the door itself is going to be a nightmare. I always said I would only try again if I built a room with a proper wall. I'd expect false wall is probably going to be the easiest and most effective.
  4. Fish colouring down is not an absolute indication that they have been previously colour fed. It could just indicate they are losing their rank in a social hierarchy (dropping colour to avoid aggression)

I picked this guy up as a bit of a pity job. He was the lone one left in a shop tank, as he has a deformed mouth. Surprisingly, he grew like mad and is my girlfriend's favorite. The flagtail in the pic is a pity job as well, I believe it is completely blind. Was in bad shape when I picked it up. Healthier now but not real active.

  19. Cichlid Type: Eartheaters, angels, other random small-med Sth Americans - housed with a dozen types of assorted tetra, corydoras, hoplo and flag cats, BGK Cichlid Size mostly adult. Brand(s) and Product(s) NLS Cichlid and NLS small fish (for the smaller fish to get at) Primary Food Product: Probably the cichlid formula. Combine Products i.e. Yes Feeding Regime: i.e. Daily, when I'm home. Probably miss 2 days a week, when I don't go home early enough at night. Additional Information - I'm now only interested in having my single display tank, no breeding or anything else, I feed NLS as it's an easy choice as a solo food choice. Originally I just had cichlid but realised some of the tetras had trouble taking to it so included the small fish mix. Seems to be working well now with everyone looking full.
  20. The waterfall pond is dried up pretty much now ... probably fuller then normal as it has just rained but the waterfall hasn't been turned on for months ... You could try some of the smaller ponds and creeks around Nurrangingy though ... That could be because the question (and responses) are only a week away from their first birthday. Things sure have changed
  21. Careful what species of freshwater prawn you end up with - some of the larger clawed ones can be quite adept at catching and eating community fish. I caught some shrimp while I was catching gambusia as feeders in the waterfall pond at Nurrangingy Reserve in Doonside way back when. I also netted a 50cm eel in there, and teased my (now ex) girlfriend with it before returning it to the pond

    Useless posts

Maybe you should preface with FREE... Seems to get more attention. Especially from some of the main offenders I would think...
  23. I haven't seen any morays for sale in fresh in AUS but apparently it is very common overseas. They even label them morays, so people go do research about them find out they cant live in fresh, go ask the lfs, the shop says "of course they can" and they take the eel home, only for it to die a few months later (at best) That was a very common story encountered when I was active on overseas forums. It seemed everybody and their dog had fallen in love with a "Snowflake Moray" in a lfs at one time or another. ps. shouldnt be too hard to tell a moray from a FW eel if you have a look at a few pics of each.
