  2. Thank you ! Good luck with the treatment. I might have to do the same..
  3. I’m just going through sorting out my tanks to kill both the MTS and the tiny rams horn snails. My 3’ tank and sump were hit with both teaspoon of Potassium permanganate and potassium sulphate ran that through the tank for a week then drained it. Now for the next 14 days I’m running the tank and sump with the copper treatment Quarrantine. Once the 14 days is up then it will be completely drained and refilled with fresh water and treated with copper removal. As for the substrate I’ll be replacing it with new sand which will be boiled before it goes into the tank and the plants I have will have 5 day 12 hour soaking in the potassium sulphate to ensure all snails and eggs are killed. it may seem like overkill but it’s the only way I have found that kills the snails completely

    Glass shimp

Hi im in Sydney city. but can drive to 1-2 hours to catch them no problem.
  12. Anyone know of any good clean creeks where i can catch a few shrimp for my community tank? I heard the glass/ghost shrimp are very common around creeks/rivers/lakes in NSW. But i've never gone and have no idea which place would be good. Any ideas? Thank you
  13. Thanks Skippy, I think as its only 200L and a tall not long tank......and yes I don't want discus or angels which it would suit more, thinking about building it around the nicaraguan cichlid which is my fave, the rest community types
  14. The mollies might be a bit slow moving. Something like rainbowfish or large tetras that are fast swimmers might be a better option.
  15. Not entirely dead but on life support. It's not the vibrant community it once was, I suspect a lot of the discussion and questions that once were here now happen on Facebook. It's a shame because the information posted on Facebook groups isn't as accessible and easily searchable in the same way as forums like this are.
  16. Hi just like to see what tropheus are available in vic for sale cheers
  17. Thanks @Skippy.. I will catch some as part of tank cleaning on the weekend.. good idea, will stop feeding for a few days and see how that helps. Thanks for the tip
  18. Cut back on your feeding for a bit, and DIY some snail traps. Manual removal via the traps won't get rid of them but it will put a dent in their numbers.
  19. Thank you for that. They are everywhere now, gotta do something!
  20. I found that clown loaches didn’t kill the trumpet snails. The only way I beat them was by removing all the substrate, letting it sit in a hot shed for a few months to fully dry out, then it was fine. I know that’s not an easy option but it worked and didn’t need chemicals.
  21. hi how did the meeting go i was going but didn't get to go

  23. Thank you for posting this, very informative.
  24. Just came across this great vid on youtube posted recently by Australian Biotopes. Great info and shows how devastating the impact is releasing ornamental fish in our native waterways.
