The Australian Cichlid Enthusiasts (ACE) Forums is the oldest cichlid forum in Australia. Continuously online since February, 1998.

It is group of hobbyists whose aim it is to promote cichlids in Australia and maintain the genetic integrity of cichlid species.

No trading of hybrid cichlids or dyed fish. (As hybrid cichlids from discus and angelfish are limited to their respective genera, sales of these species - while discouraged - are acceptable at ACE forums.

Whilst we understand that hybridisation can and does occur the promotion of deliberately hybridised cichlids is not permitted (As hybrid cichlids from discus and angelfish are limited to their respective genera, discussion of these species are acceptable at ACE forums).

Whilst we understand that people have different tastes we ask members to respect this stance. There are other forums on the web that members can access to that will cater for their tastes.

To enter the ACE Forums Footy Tipping competition, a tipper must be a registered member of ACE Forums. Members are asked to use their forum names for the competition but if they use an alternative name please PM Ged to confirm.

ENTERING YOUR TIPS

The standard tipping game allows you to enter your tips for any upcoming round at any time.

You may enter or edit your tips right up until the published start time for each match.

Use the comprehensive 'Match Facts' and 'Your Record' facilities to assist you when making the all-important selections.

You can also choose to submit the most popular tips - these are the most selected tips at the time you've submitted them. Or you can play the luck of the draw and choose to submit your tips at random.

HOW YOU'LL SCORE

You'll receive 1 point for every correct tip. If you tip all the winners in any given round, you'll receive a BONUS score of 2 points.

Be sure to enter a margin prediction as provided, for one match of the round and prior to it's kick-off time (this is usually the first match of the round, however it may vary).

Your margin prediction is used as a tiebreaker if there's more than one tipper with the same score. Your margin is accumulated throughout the Season.

FORGOT TO PUT IN YOUR TIPS?

If you forget to enter tips for any match before the cut-off time, you'll automatically be given the AWAY team as your selection and you'll score points based on results for all missed matches.

If joining at a latter stage during the Season, you'll receive the AWAY scores from each completed round, up to a maximum of 4 points for any completed round that you missed.

If you forget to enter your margin, you'll get the average tipping margin from everyone playing as your prediction for that particular round.

Results are made available shortly after the completion of each match (usually between 5 and 15 minutes), with full results and rankings being confirmed and finalised within a few hours of the completion of each round.

WINNER

The overall winner will be the person with the highest score at the end of the competition, including the State of Origins and the Finals. If there is more than one winner the prize will be divided amongst the winners ie. in the event of a tie for first by two people, the 2 winners would share the first and second place prizes and so on.

All ACE forum members including Mods and Admins are allowed to compete. This should make it interesting

SPORTAL COMPETITION DETAILS

The competition is run on Sportal as we did last year. The details are as follows;

The Comp you've been asked to join is:

Comp#: 719449

If you haven't played previously you can register by following the link below.

http://nrltipping.sportal.com.au/?p=register&iid=1305

Please refer to the direction of the APVMA (Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority)

- ACE fully supports the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Buying fish or Herps from one breeder and selling them the next day on the same forum isn't going to win you friends, while we don't intend to bar this practice entirely - Wheel and Deal at your own risk. Don't be that surprised when no-one will sell livestock to you.

- Report troubles. Please inform the Mods if you have problems with a user. We cannot fix a problem if we do not know about it.
Australian animal cruelty guidelines strictly prohibit the feeding of live vertebrates to other animals. ACE strongly discourages this practice and its promotion via either discussions or photographs will not be tolerated at ACE forums.

ACE is aware of the need to use frozen mice as food for various reptiles or in some cases larger fish. The posting photographs depicting mice, rats or other vertebrates used as food should clearly state that the mice, rats or other vertebrates were purchased dead for food and/or were euthanased humanly.

Please keep posted images small (under 800x600). Not everyone views the page at 1024x768 or greater.
Refrain for naming businesses and organisations negatively. This is a potentially libelous action and will not be tolerated here. Problems with businesses or organisations need to be sorted out off the forums, and there are a number of avenues available to you. The first step is to deal with the business or organisation directly. If you are still not satisfied then there are other avenues including the RSPCA and the Dept of Fair Trading.

The Australian Cichlid Enthusiasts Inc. advocates the use of scientific names (where sensible) of livestock rather than common names. This helps avoid the possibility of confusing one species with another and giving incorrect or irrelevant advice.

A good knowledge of scientific names will be beneficial for all fishkeepers in the long term.

Also on a point of taxonomy - the species part of the scientific name always has a little letter. So, Parachromis managuense is correct, while Parachromis Managuense is wrong.

Please be nice. This may sound simple, but sadly, offensive behaviour is commonplace on the Internet. Some arises through misinterpretation of the written word (please use emoticons if required).

No personal attacks.

Don't fall for "trolls" (these are people who are offensive on purpose {also called flamers}) Instead of replying, contact a moderator or administrator and ask that the offensive post be removed. Don't join in - that is what these people are after!!

Please avoid SHOUTING in your posts.

Do not swear, this is a G-rated forum.

Posts which are offensive for the above reasons or any other reason will be removed without notice. Please take the time to re-read your post to ensure it cannot be taken the wrong way.

Are you licensed? No animal may be transferred from one keeper to another without appropriate licensing. This is the law, and a mandate from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

If selling an animal, you are to clearly state the licence level you hold. If wanting to buy an animal, you must do the same. No exceptions will be entertained.

Licensing Information can be found via this link

What is the animal's state of health?

The following are required of each seller:

Age; Size; Overall condition; Feeding (y or n); What it is being fed on; How well it handles; etc.

Will you import/export?

A seller/buyer must indicate whether or not they are willing to sell to/buy from someone outside their state.

It is to be understood that transactions of reptiles or amphibians will include the arrangement of appropriate import/export permits from the local authority.

Although we allow the discussions of EXOTIC HERPS, the trading of EXOTICS will not be permitted to ensure compliance with Australian Law.

The webmaster, administrators or moderators of the ACE forums reserve the right to remove any postings from this forum at their discretion. Such removal may occur without warning.

Although this isn't a rule, this seems the best place for it.

We have a number of different user groups within the forum. Here's a few of the main ones:

Basic

This is where you start. You have access to the main forum and most of the functions.

Regular

These people have applied for access to the classifieds forums and their application has been accepted.

Interstate Representative

We try to have one person from each state to update our All States section. This helps us to all know what's coming up in our local area.

Forum Veteran

These people have been around for a while. They have a wealth of knowledge and their advice is normally sound.

ACE Supporters

You'll find yourself in this group if you purchase any of our promotional goods when they are offered for sale. There's a few extra benefits offered to those in this group, and you'll stay in this group for the current financial year.

ACE Advertiser

These are our sponsors. They are the ones who keep this forum free for you guys so please support them by checking out their stores and buying from them where possible.

Mods and Admins

This also applies to personal avatars and signatures.

Offending posts/avatars/signatures will be removed without warning.

Signatures which do not fit the above rules will be removed without consultation.

We also welcome the use of Avatars as a way of personalising your account.

Only registered users of the ACE forums may view the forums. Our reasoning for this is one of security. We want our the users of ACE forums to feel they can post with confidence without fear of abuse, bullying or other kinds harrassment from other users.

This has come about due to past problems caused by visitors to ACE forums, who've simply come to browse and cause trouble. In general these miscreants have not added anything to the forum community - but have caused a number of legal and administrative problems. For this reason we require all users to sign in!

So why register? It's free! and only takes a few moments - and you'll be able to browse certain forums until such time as one of our administrators approves your membership. Of course - once this occurs, you'll never need to go through this process again! Please do NOT use a free web based email account when you register. We assure all our users that their confidentially is ensured and we do not sell or give email accounts or other contact details to third parties, other than the police, should it be required. Free web based email accounts will not be permitted at any stage without the consent of an Administrator.

Users have access to a variety of discussion forums, live chat rooms and world class help and support! We are the oldest and largest cichlid community online in Australia - and are always glad to help new members!
