<p>
	Hi all
</p>

<p>
	I have reset a few of my tang tanks as I want to venture into dwarf americans. <span class="ipsEmoji">😎</span>
</p>

<p>
	I am setting up 3 american tanks and plan on getting rams and apistos. I want to add some leaf litter for water parameters and also decoration, however, I am looking for something more economical than buying almond leaves.
</p>

<p>
	Does anyone know if using gumtree leaves and bark will have a negative impact on water quality?
</p>

<p>
	Cheers!

<p>
	Hi All,
</p>

<p>
	I'm not new to the hobby (20 Years) but i'm new to african cichlids. Ive been researching and debating cichlids or discus and have taken the plunge. I cycled up a 6 foot, 275 lt tank with sand substrate, some texas holey rock (not a lot) and FX6 filter with coral rubble and bio home over the past two months and went out and grabbed some cichlids today;
</p>

<ul><li>
		1 X Aulonacara baenchi
	</li>
	<li>
		1 X Aulonacara blue neon
	</li>
	<li>
		1 X Aulonacara Eureka red
	</li>
	<li>
		1 X Aulonacara maulana
	</li>
	<li>
		1 X Aulonacara maleri
	</li>
	<li>
		2 X Cuckoo Synos
	</li>
</ul><p>
	I guess my question would be that as the bio in the filter rises to meet the load, i'll be adding in more. Im looking for recommendations on good peacocks and some smaller haps maybe to complement the tank. Looking to add 4 - 5 at a time.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance for your wisdom. Cheers

	I have an awesome male “white lips” which is one of my favourite fish.  He was doing great, and then I woke up about 4 days ago and found him swimming upside down.  All other fish in the tank are doing great, and the water parameters  are all fine (ph 7.8, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 40).  I did a big water change and have also treated the tank with metro.  He is still moving and very active, but just swimming upside down......I am not sure what else to do.  I thought I would leave him for a few days and see whether he gets better.  I assume it is his swim bladder.....should I put him out of his misery or give him a few more days?

<p>
	Im looking into keeping a tank of South Americans, Geophagus particularly. Can anyone help me locate them in the Sydney area? Whether it be breeders, local fish shops, etc. I haven’t decided on a specific type as yet, just curious as to what is out there and available.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks

<p>
	Been a few years since I have kept fish, and recently returned to the hobby.
</p>

<p>
	Was unsure which way to go and saw a colony of saulosi on gumtree which looked nice and colorful, and the tank I bought was about the right size.
</p>

<p>
	The picture below is shortly after setup, cycling, and introduction.  Since i have changed a bit.
</p>

<p>
	That being said around a month ago the first female started holding, 3 of the 6 females followed suit, and late last week fry started appearing throughout my tank.
</p>

<p>
	If i had to guess there must be 40-60 in the tank by now, 2 females still to spit.
</p>

<p>
	What do I do from here, the fry have lots of hiding spaces and are growing well, largest over 10mm, smallest around 5.
</p>

<p>
	How many can I expect to sell through gumtree ads, and what about the rest. Aside from Gumtree where else should i post, when they finally get to size
</p>

<p>
	I knew that buying a breeding colony would result in breeding, who knew it would be so succesful, my previous experiences with bn cats and angels breeding had such low survival rates in a community tank that too many was never an issue.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks in Advance
</p>

	<span style="font-family:Arial, 'sans-serif';color:#141414;">Hi guys, a few months ago I purchased a mature pair of Rainbow Cichlids and put them in 3 foot breeding tank. Today the female laid eggs. But it was not the happy event I was hoping for. After fertilising the eggs the male started harassing the female and he won't let her go back near the eggs even though she tries. He chases her all over the tank then goes back to hovering over the eggs. He repeats this behaviour.</span><br /><br /><span style="float:none;word-spacing:0px;">I'm not sure what to do. Separate them? If so which one do I leave with the eggs?</span>

<p>
	Hi Guys,
</p>

<p>
	I have kept African Cichlids (mostly predator haps) for the last handful of years and now am considering moving to American.
</p>

<p>
	I have a 6x2x2.5 tanks with 2 FX6's.
</p>

<p>
	I'm not sure if I should set up a community tank or just have a single pair of something like Dovii or Umbee's. I'm aware that Dovii and Umbee will need a larger tank down the track.
</p>

<p>
	I would prefer to keep larger Americans.
</p>

<p>
	Just looking for a advice and direction.
</p>

<p>
	Thanks
</p>

<p>
	Peter

<p>
	Hey everyone, yes I am still alive and no, I have not been keeping fish lately.
</p>

<p>
	That may however be about to change. I am considering setting up a modest tank for display. I am thinking perhaps a 4-5 ft, standard width, and perhaps a bit taller than standard.
</p>

<p>
	I am severely out of touch with what's around and nice at the moment, but am starting to do some research.
</p>

<p>
	I am unlucky that I am not living in NSW any more, knowing the people who might have the fish I need, but lucky that now I am in Adelaide, I am nice and close to E4G13M4N Mark's shop (which is really good btw).
</p>

<p>
	I am thinking either a busy bright tank full of msobo or saulosi, or an interesting tank with shellies down low and some mid / upper Tangs.
</p>

<p>
	I'd love to hear some ideas and find out what cool stuff is out there these days.
</p>

<p>
	Cheers
</p>

<p>
	Andy

<p>
	Hi,
</p>

<p>
	I don't know if this is the best place for this,  please feel free to relocate if needed mods.
</p>

<p>
	Not sure how to word this, or even if it is a good idea, or if it is workable.  So I will try to be brief ;
</p>

<p>
	Due to a long term and increasing health issue, I am no longer able to look after my tanks. Truth is,  I have not been able to for some time.  But my aquarium fish are my first love and I am INCREDIBLY reluctant to give up. It would be like giving up on life. So, I can't let go, but I can't  hold on and  maintain my African tanks/fish room.
</p>

<p>
	I have thought /wondered for some years now if there was a person in my local area of Menai, Sydney who has the passion,  but no fishroom where we could mutually benefit from this …ummm…situation.  That is,  I have a fishroom that I can't look after, is there someone who who has the passion (and energy and time) but no fishroom?
</p>

<p>
	I'm not looking for sympathy or charity. Or to hand over complete control of my fishroom for that matter..  But I am wondering if a working situation and understanding can be created from where we can both mutually benefit?
</p>

<p>
	Craig
</p>

	Hello, there! I'm new to this community, so please do tell me if I'm posting in the wrong place.

	I am aiming to loosely imitate the Venezuelan basin biotope, and was wondering if any species in my plan is incompatible, or if any other species are recommended.
</p>

<p dir="ltr" style="background-color:transparent;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:'Times New Roman';font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;font-weight:400;letter-spacing:normal;line-height:24.96px;margin-bottom:0px;margin-top:0px;text-align:left;text-decoration:none;text-indent:0px;text-transform:none;white-space:normal;word-spacing:0px;">
	I am concentrating on the german blue rams, I just love their beautiful colours and iridescence!

<p>Hi all,</p><p>with Riverside taking a new direction, St George calling it a day and so many others finding things just too tough I thought we might like to ponder some of the local LFS history.</p><p>Some of my personal memories include Bestic St Brighton le Sands, and one on Botany Rd in Redfern.</p><p>I'd be interested to see if the history of Riverside aligns with my memories of 30 odd years ago.</p><p>So, recollections anyone?</p>
